History of HTL.
Who are we?
Founded in 2007 by Michael Morgan, Hope Toys & Laughter (HTL) has become the DMV’s favorite charity, dedicated to supporting needy children and their families each year. Operating year-round with no paid employees or professional fundraisers, HTL proudly ensures that 100% of every donation directly benefits families in need.
At the heart of HTL is a unique charitable comedy event held each holiday season to collect new, unwrapped books and toys for children who are battered, abused, homeless, orphaned, or hospitalized. With a firm belief that laughter is the best medicine for the soul, our event is designed to bring joy, connection, and hope to those who need it most.
Our comedy show features local comedians and entertainers, a catered meal, exciting giveaways, and a “whole lotta fun” for all in attendance. HTL’s mission is simple yet powerful: to lift spirits, spread joy, and make a lasting impact in the lives of children and their families during the holiday season and beyond.

For the past 17 years, we have had the privilege of working alongside volunteer entertainers and partnering organizations who selflessly give their time and resources to collect toys, charitable donations, and essential items for children in need. These dedicated individuals and groups share our mission and have been instrumental in spreading hope and joy to countless families. With 16 years of experience, we stand strong in our commitment and are confident in our continued ability to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children everywhere.
We're Here to Help
At Hope Toys & Laughter, we are committed to making a difference throughout the year by providing quarterly assistance to various organizations in need. Our support extends to battered women’s organizations, children’s hospitals, homeless shelters, and orphanages. Through these partnerships, we strive to uplift and empower those facing difficult circumstances, ensuring that our contributions reach the hearts of those who need it most. Together, we work to spread hope, joy, and essential resources to create a brighter future for all.
What we done so far
· Since 2007 we’ve collected well over 300,000 books & toys combined.
· Presentations to Children’s National Medical Center
· Give away an award called the “Sheila Stewart Spirit of Giving Award.”
· Partnered with multi-million-dollar companies.
· Donated Books & Toys to families who were having financial hardship during the Christmas Holidays.
. Donated over 50,000 books to local charities.
· Supported several Women’s shelters and other charities.
· Collected well over 100,000 clothing items and essentials since 2007.
